A Freudian approach to UFOs? Almost

While watching YouTube videos, today, of Brahms Double Concerto (Violin and Cello) and Beethoven’s Triple Concerto (Violin, Cello, and Piano), I had some thoughts about the cello players that led me to apply Freudian insights to ufology and its advocates.

Yes, Freud’s views, popular again among some intellectuals and academics, can be applied to those who study the UFO phenomenon.

I think society and humanity have been corrupted by the (sexual) libido which intrudes on, and always have, human behavior more than any other instinct or drive. The Bible’s Genesis informs us of that right off the bat.

While today’s societies are influenced by the sexual drive, just as it is in the animal kingdom – the BBC’s Planet Earth series examples the ubiquity of sexuality among all living creatures – I note that among UFO fanatics, fortunately, sexuality plays little or no part, except for …..

The abductee (experiencer) accounts (“happenings”) and some recalled stories found in such works that Albert Rosales has accumulated in his Humanoid Encounters series, the tales where the encountered saucer (UFO) beings are described as “beautiful” (sexually desirable) can be discounted as true UFO encounters.

Such “reports” are tainted by sexual feelings, subliminally and overtly.

Aside from many Contactee tales, which are openly sexual in import, most UFO accounts are free of sexual reference or Freudian import.

 Those can be studied for their profound importance whereas any account or report that incorporates a sexual tinge may be ignored and passed on to a psychoanalyst for study and mediation.

A UFO (Flying Saucer) sighting that is truly intriguing

The History Channel  in a repeat airing of its UFO Hotspots program Saturday night [1/18/20] gave a few minutes to a 1945 tale, pictured above.

This is the farm boys' (2) sighting of an "American-like" humanoid sitting in a flying saucer that was hovering over their farm.

The "pilot" seemed absorbed by his craft's instrument panel and when he looked up from it and spotted the two observers, the flying saucer sped off to disappear in the distant sky.

The boys, in a later interview about their observation, said the pilot looked like an American: blond, crew-cut hair, non-descript uniform, regular features.

The History host suggested that the pilot was a "time-traveler" -- as the year 1945 was two years before the Roswell incident and no one thinks that anyone, the United States too, had any such craft or was able to back-engineer a saucer as the sighting seems to imply.

The program also recounted a supposed 2011 UFO crash in Iran that gave that country a chance to back-engineer the disabled UFO and come up with their own craft that eventually captured a U.S. drone via a tractor beam, the show outlining the news stories about that drone capture and the conjectures that Iran had used UFO technology to grab the drone from the sky, bringing it down without damage.

While the Iran story is iffy, for a number of reasons -- one being that UFOs crashing willy-nilly seems unlikely -- the 1945 "sighting" appears sound, and the time-traveler aside is not out of favor with me.

If anyone has more about the 1945 observation or the supposed Iranian capture of a crashed UFO, I'd appreciate commentary.
