The Social Media Swamp
Copyright 2023, InterAmerica, Inc.
As noted at my MediaWatch sites, news (journalism), because of advertising competition and the desire for capitalistic greed, is adopting or has adopted the patina of TikTok, Instagram, Facebook. Twitter, et al..News feeds from The Washington POST and somewhat The New York TIMES are flush with social news of a mundane, even pathetic demeanor.
UFO groups and web-sites (blogs too) are crammed with, not UFO (or UAP) items but the foods that UFO persons are eating, their travels, their birthdays, their illnesses, and everything else of a personal and banal nature.
Even UFO accounts or witness reports are jimmied with asides that have nothing to do with an odd UFO encounter; the telling crisp with trite flavorings of a notable kind.
Here’s an example:
A New Hampshire witness at Newport recalled an encounter with a hovering, disc-shaped object at 9 p.m. on October 1, 1956, according to testimony from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).
The reporting witness’s mother related this experience as the witness was 2 or 3 years old at the time. The date is approximate.
The witness, Mom, the woman who usually babysat the kids, and a brother were all in the backyard just after dusk and it was getting dark. Mom and the babysitter were dipping apples that had fallen from the tree in the backyard into a sulfur solution to kill the hornets that were feeding inside of them.
The brother started crying because a hornet got in his boot and stung him.
“But just then, a disc-shaped object came out of the sky and hovered near us,” the reporting witness stated. “It had a section in the middle that was made of glass through which could be seen bright flames burning.”
This account is not atypical. There are a slew of such accounts all riddled with those damnable asides that have little to nothing to do with the account being provided.
And here is a Washington POST “news” story, sent my way 1/26:
"Is your garden planning limited to browsing the seed packets on the rotating display by the checkout at the hardware store? Or simply flipping through a few big-box gardening catalogues to order whatever looks good for your growing zone? If that’s the case, you’re probably purchasing mostly hybrid varieties. It might be worth rethinking your approach to your plot and planting heirloom fruits and vegetables instead. Usually at least 50 years old, these long-loved varieties offer multiple benefits, and they don’t require special equipment or growing conditions to flourish."
Journalism and personal accounts of UFOs or other anomalous
activity are encrusted with that Social Media overlay, where everything and
anything is deemed newsworthy.
The ignorance and pettiness of humanity and society is more rancid than ever.
And UFO archivists want to preserve it all…
