The Crucible of Faith subverts the views of the Ancient Astronaut/Alien crowd

Philip Jenkins’ Crucible of Faith; The Ancient Revolution That Made Our Modern Religious World [Basic Books/Hachette Book Group, NY, 2017] is an academic treatise, understandable to everyone.

The author, a professor of history at Baylor University, offers a polymathic view of early religious texts that set the stage for (as his title adjunct tells readers) “our modern religious world.”

The whole book is refulgent with insights about The Hebrew Bible, The Old Testament, and other religious scripture but I’m going to suggest Chapter Four [Page 67 ff.] to you:

Enoch the Prophet, which cleanses away the misperceptions inculcated in TV viewers of the History Channel’s Ancient Aliens travesty.

I’ll be presenting, in the new year, material from Professor Jenkins’ book, especially the Enochic chapter wherein The Watchers, the Annunaki, and the Giants are scholarly elucidated.

I’m hoping that some reading this will get the book, for their own edification.
