My pal Bill Murphy listed for The Anomalist Bryan Sentes’ recent Skunkworks postings noting that Bryan has come to terms with the phenomenon:

“Will UFOs always remain inscrutable to us? Bryan Sentes seems to feel the "UFO" is essentially impenetrable--"the truth of the UFO remains tantalizingly ever out of reach."

“We even lack the concepts to understand the Mystery.”

Something I can agree with, even as I hope that UFOs will be penetrated sometime, giving us access to its reality and maybe even our ultimate reality.

But Bill goes on to end his promotional links to Bryan’s work with this:

“A bit of "full-throttle German philosophical tradition," says Bryan, would have made the works of these authors [Jeffrey Kripal, David Halperin, Diana Walsh Pasulka] -- whom Bryan extensively praises otherwise -- more solid treatments of the ufological mystery.”

Bill and Bryan pressing, again, for a “full-throttle German philosophical tradition” to solve the UFO riddle is a ghastly sidestep away from the phenomenon to assuage the academic longing both men are addicted to.

Reviewer Graham Daseler in the TLS [Times Literary Supplement] for April 3, 2020 about Robert B. Pippin’s book Filmed Thought: Cinema as reflective form writes this:

“Pippen has a habit, common among academics, of using a lot of words to say very little.”

This is exactly Bryan Sentes’ problem – he communicates to the point of fog.

We who read him often have no idea what he’s talking about. His writings even elude deconstruction.

“Keep it simple” – the words of politicos – might apply here.

At any rate, many Ufologists are taking us into the weeds of mish-mash.

There comes a time when normal, intelligent people have to wrest away the UFO discussion from those who slather it with academic nonsense.

UFOs are outside the realm of philosophy. Not to know that is a kind of ignorance that is astounding in its vibrancy.
