Is the Alien [ET] Abduction psychosis over?

Little (or no) stories of alien kidnappings are showing up in my various internet feeds, so I assume the alien abduction “events” are either over or have seriously abated.

Many of you know I have always conjectured that the “stories” were based in a psychotic (or hallucinatory) category.

There are some that are troubling even then. The episode related by Will Bueche, a board member of the John E Mack Institute, has always intrigued me, as Will is a sensible, full sane member of the human community.

But there is little doubt, in my mind, that alien abductions represent (or represented) a neurological or psychological oriented episode, not unlike that of the 14 to 17 Century psychotic activity known as the St. Vitus hysterical malady:

The weird activity has been called (as Wikipedia indicates): “a mass psychogenic illness in which the occurrence of similar physical symptoms, with no known physical cause, affect a large or small group of people as a form of social influence.”

I find that etiological explanation satisfactory.

So, we can place all those alien (ET) kidnapping “reports” alongside the odd historical accounts of St. Vitus Dance….except for the 1961 Barney/Betty Hill “escapade" which is an entity of fictive and misaligned story development, that got out of hand but was instigated by some actual, strange thing that happened to Betty and Barney Hill, and is in ways that followers of Jacques Derrida may find interesting:
